Recipe of the week - Breakfast Burritos

This week's best deal was $1 land O Lakes eggs at Stop and Shop.  Stop and Shop also had Chi Chi's tortillas on sale for 2 for $3 but with the $1 of two coupon they were just $1 a bag.  My son loves breakfast burritos and I love to make them for him because it clears out my fridge of leftovers.

Breakfast Burritos

1dozen eggs scrambled

diced tomatoes

diced green peppers

chopped cooked sausage or bacon or chicken

shredded cheese

 1 package of tortillas

In one pan, crack open your eggs and scramble them.  Always cook your eggs well to prevent salmonella.

In a second pan, toss green peppers, tomatoes, meat until warm.

Assemble burritos by laying tortilla flat then a layers of eggs, a layer of veggie and meat and finished off with a sprinkle of cheese.  Wrap up your burrito and enjoy.

Should feed 4-5 nicely for breakfast.

This is a great way to get a hearty breakfast and use up some leftovers from the week.  The main two ingredients 1 dozen eggs for $1 and one package of tortillas for $1 then add in the extra cost of leftovers for about $2.50 and you get a great breakfast for your family for only $4.50.

Stop and Shop Kelloggs Nut Crunch Cereal Deal

Stop and Shop has a deal right now until July 20th where if you buy one box of Kelloggs Nut Crunch cereal you will get a $2 off your nut order coupon at checkout.  There are $0.70 off one printable coupons at coupons.com and $0.50 off one printable coupons at Kelloggs.com.  Since this cereal is not on sale this week I would print off the coupons and wait for the item to go on sale, this will give you the best savings.  Remember you can print two coupons per computer.

Stop and Shop Grocery Group Deal

This week Stop and Shop has a grocery grouping deal where if you buy 6 items you will save $3 at checkout.  There are a few products that have coupons available right now.

Target Coppertone Sunscreen

Target has Coppertone Sunscreen on sale for $7.49.  About a month ago there were $1 off on coupons.  Target will also give you a $5 gift card if you buy two.  This makes each of your sunscreen $6.49 plus a $5 gift card.

Target Secret Deodorant

This week Target has Secret deodorant on sale for $2.29.  In this month's P&G insert there were $1 off one coupons.  This makes your deodorant $1.29.

A&P Kelloggs Cereal - UPDATED

This week A&P has Kelloggs cereal on sale 4 for $8.  You must buy four boxes to get the discounted price.  At Kelloggs.com there are a few printable coupons available.  There is a $0.50 off Crunchy Nut cereal and $0.50 off Rice Krispies.  Both of these coupons will double to $1.00.  If you print out two of each then you will get four boxes of cereal for $4.  There is also a printable coupon available at coupons.com for $0.70 off one Crunchy Nut cereal.  This coupon will double to $1.40 making each box of Crunchy Nut only $0.60.

Shoprite Duracell Batteries

Starting Sunday, Shoprite has Duracell Batteries on sale for $3.99.  At the beginning of the month there was a $1 off one coupon in the P&G insert.  If you buy three packs then you will get a $5 off your next order coupon.  This means three packs of batteries would be $8.97 (with three coupons) and then a $5 off your next order coupon. 

Shoprite Sorrento Cheese sticks

Starting Sunday, Shoprite has Sorrento String Cheese on sale for $2.99.  A few weeks ago there was a $1 off one coupon in the Sunday insert.  This makes your string cheese $1.99 a bag.

Shoprite Edy's Fruit Bars

Starting Sunday, Shoprite has Edy's Fruit Bars on sale for $2.74 a box.  About a month ago there were $1 off two coupons in the Sunday insert.  This makes your fruit bars $4.48 or $2.24 a box.

Recipe of the Week - Pasta Alfredo

Since this week's best deal was on Barilla Pasta from Stop and Shop I decided to share an alfredo recipe. 

Alfredo Sauce

1/2 C Butter

8oz Cream Cheese

1 tsp minced garlic or 2 tsp garlic powder

1 1/2 C milk

1/2 C of grated parmesan cheese

1.  Cook butter and garlic together in a pan until butter is melted. 

2.  Add cream cheese and whisk until melted and creamy.

3.  Add milk in slowly until sauce is smooth.

4.  Add parmesan cheese and stir.  Remove from heat and toss with pasta.  

5.  Sauce will thicken quickly so be sure to toss with pasta immediately and do not over cook.

This recipe is a great easy sauce to to add vegetables and chicken.  I cook this up and toss in steamed broccoli and grilled chicken.  Yum!  This is a great recipe to capitalize on a few good deals this week.  Stop and Shop had Philadelphia Cream Cheese on sale 2 for $3 and Barilla Pasta $1 a box but with coupons you ended up with five boxes for $1.  The sauce will cost you $1.50 for cream cheese and the rest are pantry items.  Pasta will cost you $0.20 then add in a pound of chicken for around $5 and some broccoli for $1 and you have a complete meal for $7.70.  This should easily feed a family of five at $1.54 a person!

Stop and Shop French's Dijon Mustard

This week Stop and Shop has French's Dijon Mustard on sale for $1.99.  About a month age there were $0.75 off one coupons in the Sunday paper.  This coupon will double to $1.50 making your mustard only $0.49!

Walgreens Combos Snacks

This week Walgreens has Combos on sale 2 for $3.  Coupons.com has a coupon available for printing for $1 off two.  This makes your Combos 2 for $2 or $1 a bag.

Walgreens Nestle Candy Bars

This week Walgreens has Nestle Candy Bars on sale for $0.49.  A few weeks ago there was a coupn for $0.60 off three.  This makes all three candy bars $0.87.

Recipe of the week - Broccoli Cheddar Frittata

Since this blog is all about saving money at the grocery store I thought it would be fun to put up a recipe every week that has a good amount of items from this week's circulars.  I hope you enjoy this new addition to the blog!
This week Eggland's Best Eggs were a steal at $0.99 a dozen with your coupon at A&P.  So here is a recipe that is all about eggs a frittata!  Thanks to some recipe browsing at Williams Sonoma I have adjusted their recipe for a Broccoli Cheddar Frittata.  I chose broccoli cheddar because broccoli is on sale at Shoprite for $0.99 a pound and Sargento shredded cheese is 4 for $10 at Stop and Shop or you can shred your own with a $1.99 block of Heluva Good Cheese from Shoprite.  If you buy two blocks then there is a $1 off coupon from a few weeks back. 

Broccoli Cheddar Frittata

1/2 lb of broccoli chopped

12 eggs lightly beaten

1 C of shredded sharp cheddar cheese

3/4 tsp of salt

1 tsp minced garlic

1/8 tsp red pepper flakes

Pre-heat oven to 500 degrees.  

Bring a small saucepan of water to a boil over high heat. Add the baby broccoli and cook until just tender, about 2 minutes. Drain and rinse with cold water. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate.

In a large bowl, stir together the eggs, 1/2 cup of the cheese, the 3/4 tsp. salt and black pepper, to taste. Set aside.

In a deep saute pan over medium heat, warm 2 Tbs. of the olive oil.  Add the baby broccoli, garlic and red pepper flakes, and season with salt and black pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 2 minutes.

Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour in the egg mixture. Cook, using a rubber spatula to lift the cooked edges and allow the uncooked eggs to flow underneath, until the eggs are just beginning to set, about 8 minutes.

In a shallow saute pan over medium-low heat, warm the remaining 1 tsp. olive oil. Place the shallow pan upside down on top of the deep pan and flip the frittata into the shallow pan. Cook, covered, until the eggs are set, 7 to 8 minutes.  

Uncover the pan and sprinkle the frittata with the remaining 1/2 cup cheese.  Place frittata in an oven safe pan and place in the oven for about 1 minute or until cheese melts.

This frittata can have a meat (make sure it is cooked first) added to it or other vegetables or seasonings.  It is a great way to use up leftovers from the week.  This frittata would cost about $2.48 when you count the eggs for $0.99, the 1/2 pound of broccoli for $0.49, and the cup of cheese for $1.  A cheap yet filling meal for your family.

Target.com Printable Coupons

Target.com has a few manufacturer coupons available to print that can help save a few bucks at the local grocery store.  They have $1 off one Jimmy Dean Sausage Roll and $0.55 off one Hillshire Farms lunch meat.  Right now Stop and Shop has Jimmy Dean sausage on sale 2 for $7 but with two of the $1 off coupons you can get them for only $5.

Coupons.com Printable coupons

Back again on Coupons.com is the $0.75 off one Gold Peak Iced Tea.  These are great to have when stores put them on sale for $1.  The coupons double to actually make you $0.50 per coupon!  also available to print are coupons for OFF bug spray and Chef Boyardee.  Go check out the new coupons and remember to print your allotment of two per computer.

This week Shoprite has Reynolds Wrap Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil on sale for $2.99.  There is a coupon from a few weeks ago for $0.75 off one.  This coupon will double to $1.50 and make your aluminum foil $1.49.

This week Walgreens has Starbucks Refreshers on sale for $0.99.  At the beginning of the month there was a FREE coupon in the Moments to Save insert.  If you still have this coupon then you will get the Starbucks Refresher for free plus a $0.99 off your next order coupon at checkout making this deal a true moneymaker.  If you used your coupon then this product is still a great deal as they will give you a $0.99 coupon off your next order at checkout essentially making your drink free!

So sorry but as I was going through my coupons I realized that there was an even better deal to be had on Pantene shampoo.  I hope you caught my mistake and didn't over pay for your shampoo, here is the updated deal.  This week Shoprite has Pantene Classic Shampoo and Conditioner on sale for $4.99 and any other variety for $5.77.  In this week's P&G insert there is a $3 off two coupon and two weeks ago there was a buy one get one free coupon in the P&G insert.  Shoprite is also offering a $5 off your next order coupon at checkout when you buy two Pantene products.  For classic shampoo and conditioner your deal is $4.99 for both with the buy one get one free coupon or $6.98 with the $3 off two coupon.  After getting your $5 off your next order coupon at checkout your deals are: FREE if you used a buy one get one free coupon or $1.98 for two Pantene classic products.

Walgreens Werthers Originals candy

This week Walgreens has a coupon in their flyer for Werther Originals candy 3 for $4.  A few weeks ago there was a $1 off two coupon in the Star Ledger Sunday insert.  Using both coupons two bags would be $1.67 or $0.83 a bag.

Walgreens Honey Maid Graham Crackers, Kraft Jet Puffed Marshmallows, and Hershey's Chocolate Bars

Starting Sunday Shoprite has Kelloggs cereal on sale for $1.99 a box.  In their ad flyer they have a Shoprite coupon for a $1 off milk or juice when you buy three boxes of Kelloggs cereal.  If you have three $0.70 off one Krave paper coupons plus the $0.70 off one Krave digital coupon then you will get back $0.11 on the first box, and pay $1.18 for the next two making your total cereal cost $1.07 for three boxes of Krave plus $1 off a milk or juice. 

Shoprite Kellogs Krave Cereal - MONEYMAKER

Starting Sunday Shoprite has certain Kelloggs cereal on sale for $1.99.  A few weeks ago there was a $0.70 off one Krave coupon in the Sunday paper.  On Shoprite.com there is a digital coupon for $0.70 off one box of Krave.  Using the digital coupon for $0.70 and the paper coupon (that doubles) to $1.40, Shoprite will give you $0.11 off the remainder of your groceries.  Remember this only works for one box.  Any additional boxes bought with just the paper coupon your deal will be $0.59 a box.

Shoprite Capri Sun Juice Boxes

Starting Sunday Shoprite has Capri Sun Juice Boxes on sale 2 for $4.  You must buy two boxes and there is a limit of four offers per checkout.  Last week there was a coupon for $0.75 off three boxes.  The best deal would be to buy six boxes and use two $0.75 off coupons that double to $1.50 each.  Making your total deal 6 for $9 or $1.50 a box.

Shoprite Kraft Milk Bars

Starting Sunday Shoprite has Kraft Milk Bars on sale for $2.99.  There is a printable coupon available at coupons.com for $0.75 off one box.  This makes each box $1.49.  These bars can be found next to the butter in the refrigerated sections of Shoprite.  They must be kept refrigerated at home.  My kids love them!

Starting Friday Stop and Shop has Aunt Jemima Frozen pancakes buy one get one free.  There was a $1 off two coupon in last Sunday's insert.  I believe the price of one box is $2.29 so your deal would be two boxes for $1.29 or $0.64 a box.  The price maybe a little different but the coupon will still work since you are technically buying two boxes even though one is already free.

Starting Friday Stop and Shop has Kelloggs Pop Tarts on sale 3 for $5.  At Kelloggs.com there is a $1 off three boxes coupon available to print.  This makes your Pop Tarts 3 for $4 or $1.33 a box.

This week Target has Huggies Diapers on sale $19.79.  There are $2 coupons from a few weeks ago.  Target also sent out a coupon mailer a few weeks ago with a $1.50 coupon.  If you buy two boxes then you get a $5 gift card at checkout.  So if you have two $2 off coupons and $1.50 off target coupon then you would get both boxes for $34.08 or $17.04 a box plus $5 off gift card.

Starting Friday A&P has a deal grouping Tostitos and 2L of Pepsi Next.  If you buy two Tostitos at 2 for $6 then you get a free 2L of Pepsi Next.  Now there is a $1 off two Tostitos and another coupon for $1 off two 2L of Pepsi Next.  So if you buy two bags of Tositos and two 2L of Pepsi Next you will spend $5.00 for the chips and you will get one bottle of Pepsi Next free and $1 of the second.

Shoprite P&G grouping deal

This week Shoprite has 3 grouping deals involving P&G items.  The Red grouping is not really worth while as other stores have better deals.  The White grouping is a little better and I would suggest trying it out if you have an interest in stocking up on Cover Girl cosmetics.  If you buy three participating Cover Girl cosmetics and use three $1 off coupons then you get a $5 off your next order coupon at checkout.  This is the cheapest way to take advantage of this deal but since the cosmetics are all different prices everyone's deal will be different.  The final grouping is the Blue Group and this is where the savings are the best.  First use your buy one get one free Pantene coupon from this past Sunday's insert.  This will get you two Pantene products for $3.88.  Next get three boxes of Crest multicare toothpaste and use three $0.20 off one coupons.  The toothpaste was already on a major sale 3 for $7.47 then add in your extra coupon savings and you get three toothpastes for $6.27.  The total would be $10.15 then you would receive a $3 off your next order coupon at checkout.  A great way to stock up on shampoo and toothpaste!

This week at Shoprite Nestle is running a deal on their products that will give you two $5 off your next purchase coupons if you spend $20.  This past Sunday's insert had a large number of Nestle brand coupons in it that correspond with their sale this week.  One good way to cash in on this deal is to simply stock up on water.  Right now you can buy 3 flats of nestle brand bottled water for $11.   There is a $1 of two flats which makes it 3 for $10.  If you want to stock up on water then buy 6 flats and use three $1 off coupons to make it 6 flats for $19 then buy a box off participating candy for $1 and you hit $20 on the nose.  At checkout you will receive two $5 off your next order coupons.  Of course you do not need to purchase all water and there are plenty of choices for the sale.  I personally bought 3 flats of water for $10, two bottles of chocolate syrup for $4 and two packs of drumsticks for $7.60.  Making my total $21.60.  Anyway you do it $10 free dollars towards groceries is always a win.
